Historic Alleys in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District have been preserved, reclaimed and revitalized under the stewardship, care and advocacy work of community-driven groups, the Chinatown Historic Alley Project, Japantown Seattle and Maynard Alley Partnership, under the guidance of the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority. Work includes repaving, lighting, art and events to improve neighborhood safety, support local businesses, promote greater community use and highlight the alleys’ historical and cultural significance.
